Criminal Defence Lawyer

You are Unique.

Your fee structure should be unique as well.

I do everything I can to make my fees flexible and fair, because hiring a criminal lawyer is an important and personal decision for you, and deciding to take on a new client is an important professional and personal decision for me.  This is where our relationship starts, and I want it to start well.

I will meet with you free of charge so that I can assess your criminal law problem, and we can decide if and how I can help.   I will be able to gauge the seriousness of your criminal charges and determine the what defence strategy would be in your best interest.

Fees are calculated using a number of considerations. How much time your matter will require is only one of the factors.  Other factors considered include the complexity or novelty of the anticipated of proposed defence, the seriousness of offence, and whether or not additional preliminary or pre-trial applications will be required.

All relationships begin with a retainer, which is not only an expression of your trust and confidence in my abilities and my commitment to defending your interests, but also a reflection of my trust in your commitment to our relationship.

That said, rest assured that we will be able to provide you with a reasonable estimate of all anticipated costs before you commit to entering into a relationship with me.

On occasion, I am willing to accept appointments from the Legal Aid Society of Alberta, although my fee philosophy and range of available fee options make it such that affordable solutions can be worked out with most clients.

We can construct payment schedules (in other words, payment by instalment) that take into consideration your ability to pay, and accept payment by credit card, debit card, cash, money order, certified cheque or back draft, personal checks, and wire transfers (both internet and traditional).  We do not accept animals, goods or services, good vibes, or payment in kind.
