Bail Hearings

BAIL 24 hours a day 7 days a week

You've been arrested, and are in custody.  The police tell you that they are not going to let you out, but want to let a judge decide if you should be let out.  To put it mildly, you're in a tight spot.

In Alberta, in most cases we can deal with your bail any time of the day by telephone.  Or, if it is in your best interests, we can wait to speak to bail in Court.  When I have assessed your situation, I will be able to advise what is best for you, because you want to be released from custody, and you want to be released on the best possible terms.

I am available for bail consultations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

We can start talking.

In some cases, you can be released from custody without having to pay any money up front.  You will, however, have to agree to pay--if the Crown asks--a certain amount if you are found to have breached any of the terms of your release.  In other cases, you will only be released if you have some "skin in the game," and deposit the money with the bail hearing office..  In this case, if you are found to have breached, the Crown can apply to have that money forfeited, and you'll be out of pocket as a result.  If you don't breach, once your matter is concluded, the money will be refunded to you.

In all cases, there will be terms and conditions that you will have to comply with; in other words, you will be required by the Court to do certain things and not to do certain things.
